Longtime furniture sales rep Ralph Deutsch dies
Won several industry honors

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Ralph Louis Deutsch Jr., a longtime sales representative who won several industry honors, has died. He was 78. ![]() Ralph Deutsch |
Deutsch, a graduate of North Carolina State University's School of Furniture Engineering, started in the industry at his family's furniture manufacturing company in Ramseur, N.C. After the business was sold, he formed a sales agency, Ramseur Furniture Distributors. He represented a number of manufacturers, most recently Elliot's Designs and Mantua Mfg.
He was honored as Outstanding Manufacturing Sales Representative at the Tupelo Furniture Market in 2001, was included in Furniture/Today's Who's Who in the Furniture Industry in 2004 and was named a Dean of IHFRA by the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. in 2007.
He was a member of the Virginia-Carolinas Home Furnishings Assn. for more than 30 years and served on its board for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a stepdaughter, four grandchildren and a brother. His son Michael Deutsch is an industry sales representative.
