HIGH POINT —
The Southeastern Home Furnishings Assn. will host its annual convention June 6-8 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla., with the theme, “Become a Retail Rock Star.”
Educational workshops planned include a retail business workshop led by Jeffrey Hiller of PROaction Marketing Group and a seminar on effective Web marketing led by Sharon Gillis of JGSullivan Interactive.
In a half-day program focusing on managing independent stores in the current environment, Hiller will cover issues such as the most efficient and effective ways to reach shoppers, how the sales staff can drive pre-qualified traffic, how to overcome common mistakes in closing sales, and how managers can increase accountability and morale.
Gillis will present Internet marketing tactics, covering topics including search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, social media, utilizing online leads and building or redesigning a Web site.
Closing the program will be a School of Rock Dinner Party, an interactive mini-rock concert that will explore the importance of teamwork, how not to be a one-hit wonder, how to keep your fans coming back for more, the significance of embracing change (like Madonna does), how to “Dream On” (like Aerosmith) and more.
Other events scheduled include a golf tournament, roundtable discussions, kids club and awards presentations.
