SHFA to meet in Charleston, S.C., June 13-15

HIGH POINT —
The Southern Home Furnishings Assn. will hold its annual conference June 13-15 in Charleston, S.C.
With the theme “Old World Traditions, New World Challenges,” the event will open with a workshop led by Jeff Hiller, president of PROaction Marketing Group.
The half-day seminar will focus on managing an independent retail business today while preparing for the future. It will cover topics such as the most common mistakes made in closing sales, the most efficient ways to reach consumers and ways to help sales staff.
Attendees are asked to bring information on their sales trends, traffic counts, close rates, average sales and marketing plans to this interactive session.
A retail panel discussion on marketing is scheduled to include Jeff Child, R.C. Willey, Salt Lake City; Bob Sherman, Serta; and Sarah Cooney, Circle Furniture, Acton, Mass. SHFA Chairman Brent Shealy of Economy Furniture, Leesville, S.C., will moderate the session.
The agenda also includes a retailer-to-retailer roundtable and dinner at Charleston's High Cotton Maverick Bar and Grill.
The conference will take place at the Renaissance Charleston Hotel Historic District.
