High Point Market buyer registrations up 4%
77,705 signed up to attend April event

HIGH POINT — The High Point Market Authority reported that buyer registrations for the April market were up about 4% from last April.
The organization reported that 77,705 home furnishings professionals registered for the spring market and that 46,087, or 59%, were buyers, according to a press release.
In comparison, there were 75,537 total registrations and 44,237 buyer registrations for the April 2009 market. Total registrations were up 2.8%, while buyer registrations were up 4.2%.
Brian Casey, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority, which organizes the event, said nearly 3,500 buyers registered to return here who had not attended in three markets.
The Market Authority also reported that 15,306 designers registered for market - 2,503 of whom did so for the first time. It also said that about 7,605 buyers registered who had never visited High Point before.
Market officials did not say how many of those who registered actually attended the event.
