Thanks for helping us serve you better

Ray Allegrezza, Editor in Chief -- Furniture Today, May 17, 2010

I’ve always believed that the easiest way to figure out what our readers want is to ask them.

So I did. With the help of our top-notch research team, we fielded an online survey that asked readers to give us feedback about our print issues and our online content.

First off, I want to acknowledge the input from the hundreds of readers who took the time to help me to better understand your editorial wants and needs.

The majority of you made it incredibly clear that FT (both in print and online) is your preferred source for industry-related news, analysis, product information and statistics.

But having said that, you also took me up on my invitation to be blunt and tell me what we could be doing to become an even more valuable asset to you and your business.

As far as the print version of FT, your comments indicated that in this uncertain business climate, you would like us to be even more analytical in our coverage.

You also told us that you are hungry for success stories, both on the retail front as well as on the manufacturing/supply side.

Last year, anticipating that need, we rolled out the Big Idea feature, which showcased successful marketing strategies from retailers and suppliers.

We followed that up with Outside the Retail Box, an ongoing series of profiles of retailers who are winning with the help of innovative new strategies.

Having said that, I want you to know that moving forward, we intend to pick up the pace in the form of more analytical big-picture stories and also plan to bring you even more interviews with successful industry participants.

You let us know that you’re concerned about legislative issues such as CARB enforcement, the Lacey Act and ongoing antidumping activities. With that in mind, we plan to step up our coverage of those issues and intend to be your eyes and ears on Capitol Hill.

And we also intend to tap into our alliance with the other leading furniture publications throughout the world, sharing content from those publications to give you a better global overview of our business.

So stay tuned and again, thanks for helping us to serve you better.

As always, I welcome your comments.
