Newest metal beds combine value, style

HIGH POINT —
Metal bed vendors showing at the April High Point Market continued to grow the category with new, value-priced models.
Value is often in the eye of the beholder, but with these beds it shows up in details ranging from aged finishes to decorative elements such as the shaping of the castings and finials. Here is a sample of some of the market winners from a number of style leaders in the category.
Vendor: Amisco
Bed: Mateo bed
Description: The Mateo bed is a transitional bed with 1 3/8-inch tubing and has decorative X-shaped elements in the head and footboard. It comes in 14 metal finishes and is shipped in 10 business days.
Suggested retail: $399 for a complete queen version.
What retailers liked: The bed received strong interest at market thanks to its styling, price point and versatility. It has a mattress support system that allows the use of a mattress only or a mattress and box spring. The support system offers three height adjustments.
