MECHANICSVILLE, Pa. — Family-owned Stone House Furniture here will shut down following a liquidation sale run by Profit Management Promotions of Jamison, Pa.
The 7,000-square-foot upscale store, which has operated out of a converted 200-year-old farmhouse for 38 years, features suppliers such as Henkel-Harris, Vanguard, Leathercraft, Sherrill, MacKenzie-Dow and Hekman.
Heather Wessner is the manager and co-owner of the business with her mother, Karin Ernest.
"As sales started to slow down over the last several years, the family found themselves battling the bills to maintain a proper floor inventory and the correct advertising. It was hard to change the business model as cash flow tightened up," Ron Cooper, PMP director of sales and marketing, said in an e-mail.
The sale, which began in March, will run through the end of this month. Cooper would not disclose projected sales from the event.
"It's very sad to let go of a store like Stone that has serviced so many customers over the last four decades," Cooper said. "We are all working very hard to not only sell all of the inventory but to also assist in the selling of this unique building."
