Commerce Department extends shipper review for Chinese bedroom producer
Decision on new duty rate for Zhejiang Tianyi due in July
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, May 26, 2010
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Commerce has decided to extend the release of final results of a new shipper review for Chinese bedroom producer Zhejiang Tianyi Scientific & Educational Equipment Co. by 60 days.
The review relates to the antidumping case for Chinese made wooden bedroom furniture. A new shipper review determines what duty to assign to a factory that does not have an extensive history of shipping finished bedrooms to the U.S. market.
The company initially received a 0 percent duty rate from shipments made from Jan. 1, 2009, through June 30, 2009, according to preliminary results issued March 3. The final results of the new shipper review were supposed to be issued May 24, or within 90 days of the preliminary results.
However officials can extend the review to 150 days if the case ends up being particularly complicated. Due to issues involving the Zhejiang Tianyi case, it decided the case required more analysis.
The final results are now expected to be issued on July 23.
