NEW YORK — American consumers can sleep like royalty, thanks to a new high-end bed from Swedish bedding maker Hastens.

The company, whose U.S. operations are based here, is celebrating the upcoming Swedish royal wedding with a bed it says is fit for a king and queen: The Royal Bed. The all-natural mattress set, a trademark of Hastens, carries a king-sized price tag: $18,000. It will be made in limited quantities and offered for sale only through the end of June.

The bed celebrates the pending marriage of Crown Princess Victoria, heiress-apparent to the Swedish throne, to Daniel Westling, set for this Saturday, June 19, in Stockholm.

Hastens, based in Koping, Sweden, plans to present a Royal Bed to the royal couple as a gift. Consumers visiting 10 Hastens stores in the United States can purchase the bed this month.

"We believe the luxury of experiencing a perfect night's sleep is actually a necessity - a way of caring for yourself and the ones you love," said Jan Ryde, CEO of Hastens. "The quality of your sleep makes all the difference to your happiness, vitality and well being."

The Hastens Royal Bed features bridal colors, "lavish white with subtle accents in sumptuous gold," the company said.

The legs are specially made in oak and are accented with brushed brass. Each bed is embroidered with gold thread that reads: "Hastens Royal 2010." Each corner of the bed is adorned with a brushed brass crown that is detachable. The bed is offered in soft, medium, firm or extra-firm constructions.

Like the rest of the company's line, known for its use of horsehair and other natural materials, the bed is free of harmful chemicals and other materials that could be harmful to the body, the company said. The all-natural ingredients maintain ventilation, allowing the beds to breathe and creating the perfect environment for a restful night's sleep, Hastens said.

The Royal Bed retails from $15,500 in queen to $18,000 for a king or California king model. It is offered in Hastens stores in New York; Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Santa Barbara, Calif.; Winnetka, Ill., and Dallas, and in Hastens shops in Norwalk, Conn., Chicago and Pasadena, Calif.
