Natura adds silver to mattresses
Adds protection from health risks, company says

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario — Natural bedding producer Natura said it will be treating all of its mattresses with Natural Silver Technology to give its customers a healthier night of sleep.
The company said the addition of the anti-bacterial barrier will provide several benefits for sleepers.
"While our latex mattresses are naturally resistant to microbes, some mattresses are natural breeding grounds for microbes, and this is another level of protection our customers are telling us they want," said Ralph Rossdeutscher, Natura's president. "Last year we introduced Natural Silver Technology in our NaturaProtect line of mattress protectors and pillow cases, and adding it directly to mattress covers is another way to protect our customers from the health risks of microbes in the mattress - naturally."
Natural Silver Technology is an anti-microbial, natural silver-based solution. The colorless, odorless solution is applied to the fabric. It is hypoallergenic and non-toxic, the company said.
Natura said that effective June 1, all of its mattresses are being treated with the technology.
The medicinal use of silver is growing around the world, Rossdeutscher said. It is used in medical dressings to speed healing, he noted.
"Whenever possible, we use what nature offers freely - and silver is the perfect blending of an age-old solution with modern technology," he said.
He said the silver technology eliminates microbes on contact and also inhibits future growth.
