PLANO, Texas — Rent-A-Center has hired former Blockbuster executive John Butler as vice president of inventory management and has promoted Eric McCartney to vice president of fleet management.
Both report to Dave West, executive vice president of operational services at Rent-A-Center, the largest North American rent-to-own merchant with about 3,000 stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Butler is charged with the procurement and placement of store rental products, ensuring the right product is directed to the right store at the right time. "John brings a wealth of experience to a very important position," said West. "We're looking forward to utilizing his expertise."
Most recently, Butler was a senior vice president at Blockbuster, where he spent 10 years. Previously, he worked for music and video retailer Trans World Entertainment, leading its merchandise replenishment and reverse-logistics initiatives, and also was head of inventory control for Toys "R" Us Canada.
McCartney will develop and implement the strategy for design requirements, replacing and reselling, fleet maintenance and fuel programs for Rent-A-Center's vehicle fleet. He has been with the company since 1997 and has been director of fleet since 2007.
"Eric has done an exceptional job managing a fleet of more than 6,400 vehicles that support our store and product-service operations," West said.
