Upholstery producer Meridian Furniture closes
Mississippi plant employed 35 people

IUKA, Miss. — Meridian Furniture Mfg., a stationary upholstery producer that began operations in the spring of 2009, closed its doors this week, putting 35 people out of work.The Northeast Mississippi Journal reported that the company vacated its 120,000-square-foot factory in the northeast Mississippi town of Iuka. The facility is owned by Tishomingo County, which is now searching for another tenant.
Meridian had showrooms at the High Point and Tupelo furniture markets.
CEO David Looney could not be reached for comment by Furniture/Today.
