HIGH POINT — In a case of musical chairs in the mattress industry, bedding veterans Kevin Damewood and Chris Henning are trading companies.
Damewood, who left Comfort Solutions earlier this year, has been named senior vice president of U.S. sales at Kingsdown. And Comfort Solutions just announced that Henning has left Kingsdown to take the new position of senior vice president of strategic planning and business development at Comfort Solutions.
Bedding veterans said they couldn't recall a similar situation where two high-ranking executives had switched companies in this way.
At Comfort Solutions, Henning will concentrate on business development and major national and regional accounts and will be involved in marketing, merchandising and strategic planning. He reports to David Binke, executive vice president of sales.
"Based on his extensive background, Chris brings to our company decades of valuable industry experience and leadership, as well as an excellent reputation for his accomplishments in marketing, merchandising, sales and strategy," said Dave Roberts, president of Comfort Solutions.

Henning was president of North American sales for Kingsdown since 2008. Before that, he spent five years at Tempur-Pedic, where he was president of the retail division. He also previously worked at Simmons and at International Bedding in his 23-year bedding career.
At Kingsdown, Damewood will oversee domestic sales, including leading sales initiatives in an effort to grow Kingsdown's market share.
"Kevin is respected and revered in the bedding industry for his proficiency in building novel and successful strategic sales platforms," said Eric Hinshaw, chairman and CEO of Kingsdown. "We are excited to add him to our experienced leadership team and have him direct such an important division within Kingsdown."
Damewood has more than 25 years of industry experience, holding sales and management positions at Sealy, Simmons, Spring Air and Comfort Solutions. He joined Comfort Solutions last year as senior vice president of sales and business development.
