TBG - The Buying Giant elects officers, directors

Buying group hosts member meeting in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. — Furniture buying group TBG - The Buying Giant elected officers and several new directors during its meeting at the Tupelo Country Club prior to the Tupelo Furniture Market.

The officers are Larry Stansell, Stansell Furniture, Trion, Ga., re-elected chairman; Bo Carey, Greer's Furniture, Loudon, Tenn., re-elected president; James Mayberry, Mayberry's Furniture, Crossville, Tenn., newly elected vice president; and Don Blalock, Morgan Furniture Center, Sparta, Tenn., re-elected secretary treasurer.

New directors are Russell Rye, Rye Furniture, Dickson, Tenn.; Jamey Lambert, Furniture Factory Outlet, Brookhaven, Miss.; Chris Simmons, Henderson Home Furnishings, Henderson, Tenn.; Ken Blackmon, Blackmon Furniture, El Dorado, Ark.; Chris Cannon, Cannon's Furniture, Elizabethton, Tenn.; Brent Crabtree, Crabtree Furniture, Russellville, Ky.; and Bob Weathers, Weathers Furniture, Albertville, Ala.

Re-elected directors are John Williams, Furniture Discounters, Jackson, Tenn., and Direct Furniture Outlet, Summerdale, Ala.; and Jimmy Anderson, Anderson Furniture, Trenton, Tenn.

On Aug. 19, before the official opening of the Tupelo market, buying group members viewed product in the group's new larger space in the market complex and heard presentations from Berkline, Best Sellers, Coaster, Cassady Closeouts, SEI, Trade Masters, Serta, Legacy Traditions, Bench Master, Bed Boss, Cal Lighting, LaCrosse, Guard Master and GE Money.

Bethel Poston, TBG executive director, said he also took two new membership applications and visited with other prospects. TBG has designated Tupelo as the official location for its twice-yearly membership meetings.
