Alabama retailer Michael Bronstein dies at 60

MOBILE, Ala. — Michael Bronstein, owner of Bronstein's Fine Furniture here and a prominent local business leader, died Tuesday at an area hospital, according to a report on the al.com website. He was 60.Bronstein had opened his store on Azalea Road in 1980.
In 1999 he was named Man of the Year by the Alabama chapter of the Leukemia Society of America. He also was active in his synagogue and in the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, and was remembered as a talented musician who played drums with a local band for years.
Survivors include his wife, four children, one grandchild and three brothers.
Graveside services and interment are planned for 4 p.m. today at Ahavas Chesed Cemetery in Mobile. Memorials may be made to the Ahavas Chesed Congregation, P.O. Box 850804, Mobile, Ala. 36685-0804.
