Most big players saw sales dip in '09

Order Top 25 Bedding Retailers

The mattress recession played havoc with major bedding retailers last year, pushing most of them into negative sales territory. Only a couple of leading retailers were able to buck the odds and post increases last year.

Collectively, Furniture/Today's Top 25 Bedding Retailers posted a decline of 5.3% last year, the second consecutive year of wholesale sales declines in the industry, according to the International Sleep Products Assn. It was also a poor year for the retail side of the business, the Furniture/Today report reveals.

This exclusive survey ranks the Top 25 bedding retailers based on estimated 2009 sales of conventional mattresses and boxsprings, as well as foam bedding, futons, air beds, adjustable beds and waterbeds. Estimated figures do not include sales of headboards, frames, mattress pads, pillows and other related products.
