Atlanta furniture retailer Jerry Mason Hux dies at 64

ATLANTA — Jerry Mason Hux, owner and president of Atlanta-based furniture retailer Beverly Hall Furniture Galleries for 26 years, has died. He was 64.
Beverly Hall operates a high-end store and clearance center in Atlanta and a store in Hilton Head, S.C. Before acquiring the retailer in 1984, Hux had worked at furniture manufacturer Hickory Chair in executive positions and at manufacturer and retailer Ethan Allen during a 40-year career in the industry.
He was active in the Atlanta community and supported a number of charities. He was a past president of the Georgia Home Furnishings Assn. and served on the advisory board of Baker Furniture.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, two sons, his mother, a brother and three grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Road, Atlanta. Visitation will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at H.M. Patterson & Son, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta.
