Primo moving to larger space at IHFC

Ray Allegrezza -- Furniture Today, October 4, 2010

John DeFalcoHIGH POINT - Primo International, a leading Canadian- based furniture and mattress manufacturer and importer, is moving from its current 17,000-square-foot location on the ninth floor of the National Furniture Mart to 32,000 square feet of showroom space on the 11th and 12th floors of the main wing of the International Home Furnishings Center.
According to Primo's senior executive vice president John DeFalco, "Our company has grown to the point that it was time to recreate ourselves and our new location in the IHFC will allow us to do that."
Reflecting a commitment both to the IHFC and to the High Point Market, DeFalco said the company has signed a seven-year lease. When buyers visit the new Primo space this October, they will be able to shop the company's assortments of motion furniture and both fabric and leather upholstered goods all on the 11th floor.
"Our new and larger space will facilitate our ability to now show our sofas with the matching loveseats and chairs," DeFalco said.

In addition, the 11th floor will also provide the company with an opportunity to showcase its bedding in a state-of-the-art 5,000- square-foot sleep shop format.
The 12th floor, DeFalco explained, will be used to show the company's assortment of dining furniture and lifestyle furniture as well as its recently introduced collection of bedroom furniture.
"Also on the 12th floor, we will have a dining and bar area as well as attached outdoor deck, which will be fabulous," DeFalco said.
Tom Mitchell, president and CEO of the IHFC was equally upbeat. "Primo will have 32,000 square feet of prime space on the 11th and 12th floors of the main wing that be connected by an elevator and stairs," he confirmed, adding, "And they will also have the only rooftop deck in the market area."
Mitchell was also excited about having what he called, "such a well-established company join the IHFC family."
"They also have a very extensive list of key retail customers and that's always a plus, as well," Mitchell said.
