Altra offers prize for worst home theater furniture setup

Winner will receive wide-screen TV, console

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 5, 2010

WRIGHT CITY, Mo. — Don't throw out that old stack of milk crates - or whatever messy, broken or just plain ugly piece of furniture the television is sitting on - just yet.

In its Worst Home Theater Set Up Ever! Contest online, the most hideous home theater will win a top-of-the-line wide screen television and a television console from furniture source Altra.

The company, which is a division of Dorel Inds., said in a press release that it is trying to raise awareness of the messy home theater "problem." Altra said it has seen a surge in home theater furniture sales this year.

Entries will be collected until Nov. 12. Entrants must submit no more than three photos that depict their home theater setup. Public voting will take place Nov. 13-26, and a panel of judges will choose the winner from five finalists.

Contestants can submit their photos at www.altrafurniture.com/photo-contest.
