HIGH POINT — Upholstery specialist Rowe Furniture is launching an exclusive line of fabrics and furniture by internationally known designer Karim Rashid at the High Point Market, which opens Saturday.
Marketgoers will get a taste of Rashid style as Rowe unveils 15 to 20 of his fabric designs, along with an edgy modern sofa and an armless chair and ottoman. The Rashid hospitality collection for Rowe was introduced last month in Miami.
The fabrics are available for all Rowe upholstery frames.
"Our partnership with Karim is very exciting," said Stefanie Lucas, the company's CEO. "It enables us to use our strengths as a domestic manufacturer of custom furniture to bring Karim's unique design aesthetic to life through a truly intriguing, contemporary collection that is exclusive and different from what is in the marketplace today."
Rashid is a prolific designers with more than 3,000 products on the market in more than 35 countries, according to Rowe. He has collected some 300 awards for his work.
His diverse designs include products such as Garbo waste can and the Oh Chair for Umbra, and interiors ranging from the Morimoto restaurant in Philadelphia to the Semiramus Hotel in Athens, Greece.
"I have been searching for the right partner to bring my designs to life in the U.S. and Rowe and I have been collaborating for some time," said Rashid.
"Philosophically speaking, we share a common passion and that is to bring beauty into people's lives through contemporary design.... With Rowe's large residential customer base and now their foray into the hospitality market, people will be able to experience my vision on a much broader scale. I could not be more pleased."
