HIGH POINT — Last week's Hike for Hope raised more than $62,000 for the City of Hope, according to organizers of the event.
More than 600 people in the home furnishings industry took part in the event, a one-mile walk through downtown High Point just before the fall High Point Market got rolling.
Proceeds go to City of Hope, a research and treatment facility for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
This year's grand marshals were Shari Wagner and Paulette Rippley of Ashley Furniture. In 2005, they came up with the idea for the hike, which has since raised some $300,000 for City of Hope. This fall's event was sponsored by Ashley Furniture and Aspenhome.
