Nora Murphy leaves Ethan Allen creative post
Vince Nigro to take on most of her responsibilities
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, October 26, 2010
DANBURY, Conn. — Nora Murphy, a top executive who supervised the creative part of Ethan Allen's advertising and store display, has left the Top 100 company for personal reasons.
Murphy, who joined the maker and retailer of upscale home furnishings in 2001 as vice president of style, was promoted to executive vice president, style and advertising, in 2007.
"After long and careful consideration, Nora advised the company of her decision to spend time with her family and to work on other opportunities," David Callen, vice president finance and treasurer, said in an e-mail.
Vince Nigro, who joined the company in August as vice president and creative director, advertising, will take on most of Murphy's responsibilities, although his title will remain the same.
"Vince has many years of experience working as creative director of several leading advertising agencies focused on luxury brands including Ralph Laruen, Lancome, L'Oreal and Revlon," Callen said.
A Securities and Exchange Commission filing said Murphy's departure was effective Oct. 22. It also noted that John Birkelund, a director and member of the audit committee, will retire at the conclusion of the company's November annual meeting.
