A successor has not been named.
Flippin, who joined Kingsdown in 1986, has held a number of positions at the bedding maker over the years. He started as plant manager of the factory here and was later named vice president of manufacturing.
"Pat is a hard worker and close personal friend to many in the Kingsdown family and others in our industry," said Eric Hinshaw, chairman and CEO of Kingsdown. "His contributions to Kingsdown and the entire industry are hugely significant. During his tenure, the company grew from being a regional mattress manufacturer to serving as a worldwide supplier of sleep products with multiple operations and licensees around the world."
Flippin lives in Bangkok, Thailand, where Kingsdown operates an international office.
His industry service included a term as chairman of the International Sleep Products Assn.
