Gorman's discussing deal with Israels
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 25, 2010
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Gorman's, a highend retailer with four stores in the Detroit area, said last week it is discussing a possible deal with retailer Israels Designs for Living here.
Israels and Klingman's Furniture, two highend stores in Grand Rapids that are owned by Robert Israels, are being forced by lenders to hold going-out-of-business sales, according to local media reports.
Bernie Moray, CEO of Gorman's, said the talks are still in the preliminary stage, but stressed that Gorman's will place and fulfill new orders from independent designers who have worked with Israels Designs for Living in the past.
Moray said there's no timetable to finalize the deal, but said he wanted to reassure designers and vendors that their new orders would be fulfilled.
