Donny Osmond Home eyes whole home

Donny Osmond Home expands to superstar proportions

donny-webLAS VEGAS — Donny Osmond has been in the public spotlight for almost his entire life, but the entertainer's home line is propelling him into a new claim to fame.

With the extensive expansion of his Donny Osmond Home line to include furniture, outdoor furniture, art and accessories, Osmond and his wife, Debbie, are becoming favorite faces for furniture retailers as well.

During the Las Vegas Market, several showrooms will feature new additions to the Donny Osmond Home collection. Coaster Furniture will introduce 116 SKUs including upholstery, case goods and accent items. Art Trends is bringing 74 new fine art SKUs to market, increasing the total line to 324 total SKUs.

ScanCom is bringing a city and country collection to outdoor via Osmond’s Patio Line. Pieces in the new collection include chairs, a sofa, a dining table and triangular table, a planter, a cushion box, a console table and a lounger. All of the items are available in two wood finishes, Rustic and Natural.

Sagebrook Home is adding 67 new SKUs at market, increasing the total SKU count to 205. In addition to home décor items, wall art and décor, mirrors and accent furniture are offered in the collections.

The diversity of the brand paired with Osmond’s consumer appeal has generated success at retail according to Larry Alterwitz, president of Walker Furniture.

“The Donny Osmond Home Gallery at Walker’s Furniture continues to bring consumers and sales into our store since our May 7 opening event,” Alterwitz said. “We had well over 500 people show up at our opening to see Donny, get autographs and see the collection. We have generated a great return on our square foot investment and we are looking forward to Vegas where new introductions are available.”

According to company representatives, the attributes of Donny Osmond Home reflect the same qualities that have propelled Osmond to stardom. “The emotional connectivity that attracts consumers to DOH branded home furnishings is the same wonderful contagion that has cultivated a 50-year legacy of devoted fans and audiences worldwide,” said Bill Wallace.

“Donny’s impeccable quality extends from entertaining to home furnishings and the brand message, ‘Making Home & Family #1,’ is a compelling invitation to experience the benefits of spending time together with loved ones, enjoying the moment and creating treasured memories. “DOH delivers quality and comfort for creating a family-friendly environment at home.”

Wallace said that Donny recognizes and respects his fans and feels a responsibility to give back to them. Through creating and offering the DOH brands, Wallace said that Osmond is sharing some of his style preferences with consumers.

Osmond agreed. “We had no idea how much our furniture line would take off,” Osmond said. “We have a lot of great people working with us, and that is the secret to business.”

As the Upholstery/Style Editor for Furniture/Today, I spend my work hours studying the sloping curves of sofa frames, the intricacies of fabric and the nail head trim and button accents that function as jewelry on a piece of upholstery. I research the companies that bring these things together for retailers, and ultimately consumers, and interview industry leaders about their business strategies and where they think furniture is heading in the future. And when traveling, I provide a sneak peek at what I'm seeing, whether at international markets or in High Point or Las Vegas.

I look forward to sharing what I see and I hope you'll feel free to do the same. Email me at chodnett@furnituretoday.com or follow me on Twitter @CynthiaWHodnett.
