Pier 1 sales up 8%, comp stores up 10.2% in quarter
Traffic, conversion rate, average ticket improve

FORT WORTH, Texas — Retailer Pier 1 Imports said sales for the quarter ended Nov. 27 increased approximately 8%, while comparable-store sales jumped 10.2%.The company said store traffic, conversion rate and average ticket were key drivers in the comparable-store increase.
"Our September and October sales results were strong and that momentum carried throughout November and the Thanksgiving holiday weekend," said Alex Smith, president and CEO.
Total sales for the quarter were $354 million, compared with $327 million for the same period in 2009.
Complete financial results for the quarter will be released Dec. 16.
