Nebraska Furniture Mart's Bob Batt to receive alumni award
University of Nebraska at Omaha to present honor Dec. 17

OMAHA, Neb. — Bob Batt, executive vice president of Nebraska Furniture Mart here, will be honored Dec. 17 with a citation of alumni achievement by the University of Nebraska at Omaha, according to a local Associated Press report.The honor is the alumni association's highest award, the report said. Batt, 62, is the grandson of NFM's founder, the late Rose Blumkin. He graduated from the university in 1976 and has been working at the retailer since he was 14, the report said.
NFM is part of Berkshire Hathaway's furniture division, which ranks No. 4 on Furniture/Today's Top 100. It operates a 475,000-square-foot complex in Omaha, a 450,000-square-foot store in Kansas City, Kan., and Homemakers Furniture in Des Moines, Iowa.
