Allen Duke, former Maitland-Smith sales reps, dies at 64

Duke spent nearly 40 years in the business, having joined Simmons Co. after college. He went on to serve in senior-level management positions with Lane and HTB. Duke joined Henredon as a sales representative before moving on to be one of the founding sales reps with Maitland-Smith. Duke was the importer's senior sales rep for the southeast for 21 years, retiring in 2005.
In addition to his work in the industry, Duke was an active leader in the men's ministry at his church, a golfer and a car collector.
Duke is survived by his wife, Vicki; son Schon, a sales representative for Theodore Alexander; another son, a daughter, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock. The family will receive visitors between 6 and 8 p.m. at the church on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Memorial donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 26 Broadway, 14th floor, New York, NY 10004.
