Moretti Joins Furniture First as VP-Merchandising

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Furniture First buying group has hired industry veteran Tony Moretti to the newly created position of vice president of merchandising.
His primary duties will be managing the group's buying team, serving its members and bringing supplier partners and members together, Furniture First said.
"Tony will also help members match up future holiday events with valued product promotions," the group said in a release.
Moretti has more than 30 years of industry experience. He has been an independent vice president of merchandising and design for England Furniture, and also held key merchandising and buying posts at Taunton, Mass.-based retailer Jordan's Furniture, American Home Furnishings in Albuquerque, N.M., and the former Alpert's Furniture of Seekonk, Mass. Most recently Moretti was an independent consultant.
Furniture First noted Moretti's experience in buying and selling product, showroom layouts, merchandising plans, increasing retail sales and leading a team of buyers.
"He has worked closely with manufacturers, fabric mills and retailers and (has traveled) overseas to the Asian markets to view product diversity and manufacturing capabilities," the group said.
The 16-year-old Furniture First has 181 members with 387 stores doing $1.3 billion in retail sales.
