ST. LOUIS — Jeff Cook has resigned as president of Broyhill Furniture Inds. and has been replaced by Mark Stephens, who has been Broyhill's vice president of sales and marketing since 2007, parent company Furniture Brands International announced this morning.
"Mark is the perfect choice to lead Broyhill today," said Furniture Brands Chairman and CEO Ralph Scozzafava. "Mark and Jeff worked closely to re-energize the Broyhill brand with our dealers and with consumers. Mark also reorganized Broyhill's sales team into a more focused and effective organization. He has the experience and respect of his peers to lead Broyhill to the next stage of its storied history."
"We also appreciate Jeff's role in helping drive the transformation of Broyhill. For nearly four years, he brought energy and passion to his role and has been a valued member of our executive team. We wish him well in the future," Scozzafava said.
Cook did not confirm his plans, but sources said he is believed to be headed to importer A.R.T. Furniture, where he will serve in a top executive post.
"I have always had tremendous respect for the Broyhill family, and it has been a truly great honor to lead the company that bears their name," Cook said in a statement. "As part of the Furniture Brands portfolio, Broyhill today has access to tremendous resources and talent. I believe that Broyhill is well positioned to meet the needs of today's furniture industry."
Also in a statement, Stephens said, "I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this iconic brand. For generations, Broyhill has been one of America's favorite brands. Our team will continue to deliver on that legacy through great new products, excellent customer service, and programs to drive sales and profitability for our dealers."
In unrelated news, a Furniture Brands official also said that two other FBI brands, Thomasville and Drexel Heritage, will move their High Point Market showrooms downtown to the International Home Furnishings Center. The companies will still have office space in the outlying buildings that had been their showrooms.
Combined, Thomasville and Drexel will occupy the entire eighth floor and a portion of the ninth floor of the IHFC's Main wing, an IHFC official said.
