LAS VEGAS — Furniture Origins is now the exclusive licensee, manufacturer and distributor of the Theo Kalomirakis for Walt Disney Signature branded home theater line.

Themed "Surround Made Simple," the new line features six collections of coordinated upholstered furniture, case goods and accessories. The collections are on display at this week's Las Vegas Market in the company's showroom in World Market Center B-101.
A veteran of high-end theater design, Kalomirakis has created home theater furniture for the likes of Roger Ebert, Eddie Murphy and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He also has won the Lifetime Achievement Award from CEDIA, the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Assn.
His line for Furniture Origins emphasizes plug-and-play connectivity and affordable style. Pieces feature easy plug-in functionality for external media.
Each credenza in the collections has built-in surround sound speakers, and houses discrete electrical outlets that power all audiovisual equipment with just a single external cord.
Walt Disney Signature is collaborating with Kalomirakis in designing the product. Disney officials said the product is a "natural extension of the brand" considering Disney's history of innovation in film and sound technologies.
"When Walt Disney began making movies, technology was not advanced enough to translate what was in his mind to the silver screen, so he invented what he needed to make his vision a reality," Scott Ballard, president of Furniture Origins, said in a press release.
The line has eight media units, six occasional sets of cocktail tables and side tables, and six upholstery sets that include coordinated sofas, sectionals and arm chairs.
Entertainment units will retail for about $1,499 to $1,999. Ballard said they offer an affordable home theater for consumers with their hidden high-quality speakers, subwoofers and smart phone docking stations.
Furniture Origins will offer retail display banners and other items to help merchandise the offerings. The groups will be warehoused in Statesville, N.C., and the upholstery will be manufactured in North Carolina, Ballard said.
The line comes in a broad range of styles with hand-rubbed multi-step finishes and woods including ash, birch and mahogany. Some occasional tables feature lift tops.
The products are on display here in a retail environment developed for furniture stores by Disney Consumer Products. Ballard said retailers can merchandise the line in about 1,500 square feet.
Each buyer who previews the collection at market will receive a Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 special edition, two-movie collection on Blu-ray and DVD.
Kalomirakis formerly had shown a higher-price licensed line at upholstery source W. Schillig.
