Final duty on imported innerspring units set at 234.51%
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 26, 2011
WASHINGTON — Uncovered mattress innerspring units imported to the United States from China from Aug. 6, 2008, through Jan. 31, 2010, are subject to a 234.51% antidumping duty, the Department of Commerce said in a ruling published this week. The final duty was left unchanged from a preliminary duty amount announced earlier.
The petition to impose the antidumping duties was filed in 2008 by Leggett & Platt, the largest U.S. innerspring producer, on behalf of the U.S. innerspring industry. The Department of Commerce later issued findings that innersprings imported from China, South Africa and Vietnam were unfairly dumped in the U.S. market.
