PLANTATION, Fla. — Two weeks after opening its 12th store in West Palm Beach, Fla., El Dorado Furniture is reopening a showroom in this Broward County city that has been closed for remodeling since April.

The retailer was giving away $100 furniture gift cards to the first 300 shoppers at the store that day. El Dorado plans another grand opening this Saturday at its remodeled store in Plantation, Fla. |
The grand opening of the Plantation store will take place at 10 a.m. this Saturday. In celebration of the event, the retailer is giving away $100 furniture gift cards to the first 100 families who visit the store that day.
"We were going to call this a grand reopening, but the store is so different now - it's been completely redesigned from the inside out - it's essentially a brand new store. It just happens to be in the same place," said Robert Capó, chief marketing officer for the company.
Before it closed for remodeling, the store at 400 South University Drive was in business for 22 years and was the retailer's first location in Broward County. With the renovation, El Dorado promises "an entirely fresh and unique furniture shopping experience."
The store is 23,000 square feet. Because of the building's limited size, the store has an open layout opposed to the retailer's larger Boulevard format.
"This showroom makes it even easier for our Fort Lauderdale customers to see the wide range of furniture styles we offer," said Carlos Capó, El Dorado vice president.
The retailer said the store has an extensive selection of indoor furnishings ranging from ultra-modern to traditional, plus a sizable selection of outdoor furniture as well.
An official ribbon cutting event for family, friends and the media will take place this evening at 7:30 p.m.
The Jan. 15 grand opening in West Palm Beach drew about 3,000 people to the store that day, said Robert Capó.
