He will help lead an expanded push into the home furnishings industry for the manufacturer of display and branding products.
Hobson spent more than 25 years with Sealy in a variety of sales, management and marketing positions, including vice president of national accounts, regional vice president of sales and senior vice president of marketing. After leaving Sealy, he spent a year as managing director and CEO for the Sandler Training facility in Greensboro, N.C.
"Mark's extensive experience within home furnishings, combined with his proven business development skills, make him a unique and valued asset to the Colonial team," said Jim Keever, president of Colonial. "We plan to accelerate our already strong momentum by expanding sales and marketing capabilities to better service and support our customer partners worldwide."
Keever said Hobson "will be a key new resource for us as we develop and execute our vision, to assist our customers' productivity while providing category-leading point-of-purchase displays, branding and associated promotional products, supported by outstanding service."
Colonial designs, manufactures and distributes display and branding products featured in furniture and bedding stores.
Hobson said the branding products category "adds real value to retailers and manufacturers, which is why it has grown so dramatically over the years. Effective displays, whether in-store or top-ofbed, elevate the consumer's shopping experience, leading to better quality sales and improved margins."
He said that at Colonial his mission will be "to develop additional sales and marketing resources that can help our customers accomplish their visions, adding greater value for all. This is a perfect fit for my background and passion to help those within the industry."
Colonial has been based in North Carolina for more than 25 years.
