LAS VEGAS — Traffic at the Western Home Furnishings Assn.'s Retail Resource Center at the recent Las Vegas Market was double what it was at the summer show, according to the WHFA.
The center was in a new location in the World Market Center for the January show, moving to space C-488/496 from its former space on the Building B 16th floor.
"Our new showroom location, and the traffic it saw, was terrific," said Sharron Bradley, WHFA executive director. "Not only were all of our vendors thrilled with the business they saw, all of our educational seminars were well attended, and there was a positive vibe that could be felt throughout market."
The 12,000-square-foot RRC offered an expanded assortment of resources, including a larger seminar room, Internet and charging stations, a business services tradeshow and the popular Buyer's Club.
A new area called The Showroom of the Future, created by ViewIt Technologies, featured a wall of QR codes. Visitors could take pictures of codes with their smart phones and link to vendor websites.
To celebrate the new showroom, the RRC hosted an open house and gave retailers the chance to win an iPad, a Visa gift card and an all-expense paid trip to San Antonio, Texas, for this year's Home Furnishings Industry Conference.
Prize winners were: iPad, Julie Haimsohn, Lawrance Contemporary, San Diego; Visa gift card, Bruce Kawaguchi, Guchi Interior Design, Roseville, Calif.; and the conference trip, Nick Gates, Gates Furniture, Grants Pass, Ore.
