Albert Barbiero, past IHFRA president, dies at 86

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Albert G. Barbiero, a retired sales representative and retailer and former president of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn., has died. He was 86.
Barbiero served in the Navy for five years during World War II. Later, he worked for retail companies in research, as a furniture salesman and as a buyer in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Illinois.
In 1971, he became a sales rep for Corson Furniture Inds. in Florida. He sold the line exclusively for nine years, then decided to carry multiple lines. He was named Salesman of the Year by Florida retailers, and also was active in church, civic, youth athletics and community groups.
Barbiero served as president of IHFRA in 1985. He retired more than 10 years ago.
He conducted many motivational seminars for retailers and reps during his career. His trademark was wearing two watches - one on each wrist.
He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
