Preliminary 16.24% Duty for ‘09 Set for 28 Chinese mfrs.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Commerce has assigned preliminary retroactive duty rates of 16.24% to 28 Chinese manufacturers of wooden bedroom furniture.
     The rates apply to 2009 shipments of wooden bedrooms into the U.S. market.
     The annual administrative review is part of the antidumping case that U.S. producers and the U.S. government brought against Chinese wood bedroom producers for selling below normal market values. The duties, paid by importers of record of the subject merchandise, are aimed at helping to level the playing field in what the producers and the government consider an environment of unfair competition.
     These preliminary rates could change after a final review, the results of which are expected in about 120 days. Interested parties may comment on the preliminary results no later than 30 days from their Feb. 10 publication in the Federal Register.
     The companies assigned preliminary 16.24% rate are:

     The DOC said that 12 other companies have received an All-China rate of 216.01% because they did not demonstrate their eligibility for a lower separate rate. They are:
