Davis launches import source Le Noir Leather
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, March 4, 2011
WEST POINT, Miss. — Longtime Mississippi furniture executive Lynn Davis is launching a leather upholstery importer that will debut at this week's High Point Premarket.
The new company, Le Noir Leather, initially will focus on promotional and mid-priced stationary upholstery with all-leather covers. However, it will be expanded to include motion sectionals, sofas and recliners.
"We're real excited about this new line," said Davis, who also heads fabric upholstery producer Davis Furniture Inds. "It's going to be container direct, but we'll have three-week shipping out of China."
At Premarket, which takes place Feb. 28-March 1, Le Noir Leather will show 12 stationary seating groups that feature sofa price points of $799 to $1,099 at retail. He said the groups cover a range of transitional and traditional styles.
At the spring High Point Market, which opens April 2, Davis hopes to unveil 12 motion seating groups that feature all-leather and bonded leather covers.
The Le Noir line can be seen in the Davis Furniture showroom in space 70 of Center Point on Centennial. Davis said the line is produced at a 150,000-squarefoot factory that his company recently leased in central China.
He said the line was largely developed by Bruce Hartman, vice president of merchandising at Davis Furniture.
Justin Smith, a former merchandising executive at Natuzzi and LeatherTrend, has been hired as vice president of merchandising for Le Noir Leather, said Davis.
