He succeeds John Kennedy, who is retiring as merchandising manager for the western provinces at the end of April.
Hodgins took up his new post on March 1 and is based at the buying group's office in Vancouver. Before joining Cantrex, he was vice president of sales and marketing for case goods manufacturer Buhler Furniture, and earlier held a senior marketing position at Arctic Cooperatives, an association of First Nations businesses serving the northern regions of Canada.
Prior to that, Hodgins worked as an independent agent with his own company in Vancouver.
Cantrex said in a statement that Hodgins has supported and implemented a wide variety of programs, including point-of-sale, Internet and inventory control systems.
"Guy is a great addition to our outstanding team in Vancouver," said Patrick Kelly, Cantrex network and retail program director. "He'll be responsible for building strong relationships with existing and new dealers in the West, and will play a big role in marketing and merchandising. He'll also be responsible for building relationships with our supplier base and building merchandise programs that support the growth and profitability of our dealers."
Kennedy will retire on April 29, although he will continue to work with Cantrex part-time to handle special projects and initiatives the group is undertaking to strengthen its commitment to western Canada.
