Inter Spec Group acquires Thomas Hahn and Home

HIGH POINT — The residential furniture division and 30,000-square-foot office and showroom of case goods importer Thomas Hahn and Home here have been sold to The Inter Spec Group.

The sale took place March 1. Inter Spec and Thomas Hahn and Home had been original partners in the company since its inception in 1995, a press release said.

Ronald Thomas Hahn, a former president of Universal Furniture and a co-founder of Master Design Furniture with Robert Hsieh, started the company in 1995 as Manchester Furniture.

It began as an importer of casual dining from Asia and soon added occasional furniture and later bedroom. The company changed its name in 2007 to Thomas Hahn and Home.

Minaz Jamal, formerly with Thomas Hahn & Home, was named president of Inter Spec and will manage its interests in the United States. Jamal said in a press release that the transfer shouldn't disrupt business for the importer.

The Hahns, Ron and his son, Kelly, will continue their shared ownership with Inter Spec of one million square feet of production facilities in Southeast Asia.

"This is a great opportunity for Minaz to continue the success and growth of the company after 30 years of working together," Ron Hahn said in the release. "It's an exciting and challenging time in our industry and I look forward to pursuing other business interests," he added.

Kelly Hahn will continue to work on design and will work with some retailers for the company.
