Moore elected president of ASFD for 2011

NEW LONDON, N.C. — High Point designer Dudley Moore Jr. has been elected 2011 president of the American Society of Furniture Designers, heading a group of officers and directors who will be installed at an ASFD meeting April 4.
"I'm pleased to welcome our talented slate of new board members and look forward to a great 2011 for the American Society of Furniture Designers," said Moore, who is with the firm Otto & Moore. "With exciting new scholarship opportunities, a stylish new marketing initiative and a thriving Pinnacle Awards program, we are going to continue to drive the idea that what our industry needs, now more than ever, is to differentiate through design."
Continuing to serve on the executive committee are Steve Hodges, chairman; Katie Hatch, vice president; and Arto Szabo, treasurer.
Two new vice presidents are Fred Schubert of Schubert Design, Altavista, Va., and John Conrad of Powell Co., High Point. Dwayne Welch of Hickory Springs Mfg. will continue in his role as corporate member representative. Christine Evans continues as executive director of the nonprofit organization.
New board members are Nicholas Blair, Turnkey Products, Chicago; Denis Kissane, Stanley Furniture, High Point; Stephanie Lena, Aspenhome, Phoenix; Rick Schroeder, Stanley Furniture, High Point; Fred Spector, Frederic Spector Design Studio, Providence, R.I.; Mark Tucker, Home Line Furniture, Greensboro, N.C.; and Mike Warren, Warren Associates, Grand Rapids, Mich.
Ongoing directors are Jodie Davis, Davis Furniture Designs, Evington, Va.; Abby Eaton, Otto & Moore, High Point; Troy Hollis, Troy Hollis Designs, Lexington, N.C.; Jason Phillips, Phillips Collection, High Point; and Catherine Smoak, Jigsaw Solutions, Greensboro, N.C.
