Agreement is first step in push to take Paramount line national

NORFOLK, Va. — Paramount Sleep, an independent bedding producer based here, has entered into a strategic alliance with Omaha Bedding, an independent based in Omaha, Neb.Under the agreement, Omaha will manufacture, service and support the full line of Paramount's brands and products. Paramount officials say this is the company's first step in an aggressive push to establish a national bedding footprint.
"We are very excited and pleased to announce this strategic alliance," said Jamie Diamonstein, president of Paramount. "Omaha Bedding and Paramount share many of the same key values: high integrity, strong customer service, great product value and businesses built on longstanding family values."
Paramount, which is introducing two new lines at the High Point Market, which officially opens Saturday, sees similar alliances as the key to establishing a national organization that can service customers from coast to coast.
Diamonstein said the new Paramount Sleep Alliance program "is not a licensing arrangement that increases the cost of the product to the customer, but is the coming together of strong independent companies focused on their customers with a shared vision to develop and deliver a stable of fully developed brands, quality products and outstanding service."
The new alliance with Omaha Bedding has been in the works for the past year, according to Diamonstein. He said Omaha, which operates a 150,000-square-foot factory, will continue to offer its existing products in addition to making the full range of Paramount products available to its dealers.
"These are two remarkably similar organizations," said Scott Veitzer, vice president of Omaha Bedding. "Family owned and operated for three generations, both companies have been in the bedding business for over 80 years. Most importantly, both companies are dedicated to treating employees, suppliers and customers with equal kindness and respect."
Paramount's brands include the Sleep for Success and A.H. Beard lines, which are launching this market, and HD, Back Performance, Quilt-O-Pedic, Nature's Spa and the Boutique Hotel Collection.
Diamonstein said more strategic alliances will be established in the near future. "Our intention is to build the Paramount Sleep Alliance to completely cover the U.S. by the end of 2011," he said. "The Paramount Sleep Alliance will only sign on partners who fit all of our criteria - high integrity and high quality."
Paramount has a 100,000-square-foot factory in Norfolk. It is headed by Jamie and Richard Diamonstein and Richard Fleck, recently named chief marketing officer.
Omaha Bedding is headed by Irving, Norman and Scott Veitzer.
