Gallery Furniture posting High Point Market intros on Facebook
Three consumers accompanying buyers to market

AT THE MARKET - Houston-based Gallery Furniture is taking its High Point Market Facebook promotion to a new level with more teams of buyers taking photos as well as videos of new furniture here, for the retailer's growing fan base to see on the spot.
The Top 100 company also brought along a few consumers this time.
The Top 100 company tried a similar promotion for the first time in October and ended up with more than 300 of its 6,000-plus Facebook fans commenting on the photos. The exercise actually drove some of the buying decisions as Gallery bought some of the consumer favorites for its two Houston stores.
This time Gallery sent a dozen employees and, in addition to uploading photos, they are creating short videocasts to post on Facebook for the store's more than 9,075 current fans, said Robert Williams, director of fun, marketing, e-commerce and social media. The teams have appointments with about 20 suppliers, including Crown Mark, Legends, Berg, Largo, Franklin, Hooker, Powell, Jackson/Catnapper, Trendwood, Howard Miller and Tradewins.
Like last time, Gallery is giving fans a chance to win product prizes, including a zebra pattern chair from Crown Mark, a living room group from Jackson/Catnapper, a recliner from Lane and a pair of Ty Pennington martini chairs from Howard Miller.
On top of this, Gallery brought three consumers to shop with the teams - winners of a pre-market Facebook contest.
They consumers started at 8 a.m. Friday and by 5:30 p.m. that day, after visiting sources such as Ashley, Lane, Franklin and Hooker, they were exhausted but still enjoying themselves, said Bessie Burnsed, one of the fans shopping with Gallery.
High Point "is more than we expected," she said. "There is so much wonderful furniture we've never seen before. I like everything."
"Gallery Furniture brought in some of the top picks from last market, and they sold well and have become part of our regular merchandise," Williams said. He added that the retailer is looking for more new product here.
