City of Hope home furnishings sector raises $1.2M in 2010-11
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 5, 2011
HIGH POINT — City of Hope's home furnishings sector has collected $1.2 million from fundraising events during the 2010-2011 season, the organization announced after its Sunday banquet here during the High Point Market.
At the gala, Mike Huber, CEO of Belfort Furniture, Dulles, Va., and Stefanie Lucas, president and CEO of manufacturer Rowe Furniture, were presented with The Spirit of Life Award, City of Hope's most prestigious honor.
The event, which benefits lifesaving cancer research, education and treatment at City of Hope, was hosted at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.
"The $1.2 million in revenue generated by the National Home Furnishings Industry represents a 15% increase over the previous year," said Beth Ida Stern, City of Hope's senior director of development.
"To say that this is indicative of the passion and dedication of this industry would be an understatement," Stern added. "In a difficult economy, the industry rallied and provided such amazing support for our leading-edge research, patient care and education. Over the past 47 years, the industry has raised more than $45 million for City of Hope. I am inspired by and grateful for the efforts of our home furnishings partners."
