Hanly has been with the company since 2009 as a marketing executive and most recently has served as senior brand manager for Broyhill Furniture.
Before joining Furniture Brands, she was director of marketing at shoes.com and was a brand director for Brown Shoe Company.
The promotion occurs shortly after the departure of John Hastings, who was with the company as vice president of communications and investor relations since early summer of 2008. Details about Hasting's departure were not immediately available.
In her new position, Hanly will handle media relations and public relations, tasks formerly handled by Hastings. Hanly also will handle brand partnerships and general communications for various Furniture Brands initiatives.
In her previous role with Broyhill, she re-launched the brand's consumer website, worked on new advertising campaigns, and also handled public relations, product placement as well as brand partnership marketing initiatives.
In her new role, she reports to Jim Brenner, Furniture Brands chief marketing officer.
"Lisa's marketing savvy and passion for our brands will be an asset to the organization," Brenner said in a statement. "She will not only help FBN effectively communicate our ideas and vision, but will be involved in the marketing operations of our organization and numerous projects that will continue to grow our portfolio of brands."
In a statement, Hanly said she is excited about the new opportunity with the company.
"I'm excited to leverage my brand management experience to support our mission of building brand power," she said. "In today's environment of convergence media, our communications must be informed, powerful and accessible. I'm delighted to be a part of the FBN team and have the pleasure of working with some of the most powerful brand names in the furniture industry."
In a related announcement, Furniture Brands has appointed company Chief Financial Officer Steven Rolls to handle investor relations, a task formerly handled by Hastings.
Furniture Brands International is the parent company of Broyhill, Lane, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, Henredon, Pearson, Hickory Chair, Laneventure, and Maitland-Smith.
