Mattress category gained two percentage points of market share

Furniture Store Performance Report 2016Bedding and stationary upholstery are this year's winners in terms of sales market share within furniture stores, according to Furniture Today's 2016 Furniture Store Performance Report.

The mattress category gained two percentage points of market share from 14% last year to 16% in 2016. And, stationary upholstery gained one percentage point of share to a full 25% of furniture store sales. Furniture stores also increased the number of lines carried for bedding and sofas.

In 2016, stores carry a median of four bedding lines, up from a median of three last year, and a median of eight fabric stationary sofa lines, compared with seven last year.
