LEXINGTON, Ky. - Aided by a 36% increase in North American mattress sales, bedding producer Tempur-Pedic said first-quarter profits jumped 45.6%.
The specialty bedding manufacturer said net income for the quarter ended March 31 totaled $48.3 million, or 68 cents per share. That compares with income of $33.1 million, or 44 cents per share, in last year's first quarter.
