Bedmart posts 300% sales increase of Leggett & Platt power foundations

WHITTIER, Calif. — Supplier Leggett & Platt has recognized Arizona-based retailer Bedmart for its major increase in sales of L&P's power foundations in the past two years.
L&P officials said Bedmart has posted a 300% increase in power foundation sales and is on track to sell more than 2,000 L&P foundations this year.
"Bedmart has embraced power foundations as a lifestyle product and has tailored its marketing and training to communicate the benefits of these products to younger, active consumers," said Rob Woods, president of L&P's Consumer Products Group, based here. "Their commitment to the category serves as an example to other retailers looking to increase their revenue while better serving their customers."
Bedmart is doing well with the adjustable bases because it backs the program with significant newspaper advertising and training for its retail sales associates, L&P officials said.
"While our company's typical power foundation customer has traditionally been older, we are talking more and more to younger, active consumers about how a power foundation can help them sleep better and enjoy their time in bed," said Chet Goldberg, founder of Bedmart.
