She replaces Vesna Telalovic, who has left the 24-store Top 100 company. In her new role, Knightly will lead the merchandising and visual display teams supporting all RoomPlace locations throughout Chicagoland and Indianapolis.

She joined The RoomPlace in June of 2002 as an associate buyer and was promoted to her most recent post as upholstery buyer in 2003.

“Not only does Tara have an unparalleled understanding of the furniture category and merchandising needs, but she has also been instrumental in transitioning the assortment on the sales floor over the past several years,” the company said in a release.

“The vice president of merchandising plays a critical role in such a competitive marketplace and we are confident that Tara’s experience and leadership will further support The RoomPlace’s growth and success.”

RoomPlace Chairman Bruce Berman added that Knightly “brings unmatched industry knowledge, vendor relationships and a comprehensive understanding of The RoomPlace’s long-term strategy to the role.”
