Lloyd/Flanders Presents Web-Based Sales Award

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, June 1, 2011

CLEVELAND - Lloyd/Flanders National Sales Manager Warren Juliano flew to Cleveland recently to present the top award in the outdoor furnishings manufacturer's first national Web-based sales contest.
"It created a lot of excitement," Juliano said. "I couldn't have been more thrilled because for the amount of money that we're investing in the contest, it really got a lot of positive feedback from the salespeople. It created a lot of energy and excitement. April wasn't the best weather, but we had a successful contest." It drew enthusiastic responses from sales representatives and floor salespeople in stores carrying Lloyd/Flanders' products, he said.
The grand prize winner was specialty retailer John E. Malarney of the Patio, Deck & Hearth Shop in Newbury, Ohio. Sales representative David Hunt was also on hand as Juliano presented the $1,000 award.
A $750 second-place award went to Barbara Schmlyke of Casual Concepts, a specialty dealer in Rochester, Mich. Juliano said he was pleased one of the winners was in Michigan, where Lloyd/Flanders' headquarters and manufacturing plant are located.
The idea for a contest spun off the start of dealer access through the Lloyd/Flanders' website, Juliano said. "We made it simple so our dealers and our representatives can log in with a user ID and password to see all of their open orders, invoices, acknowledgements and an inventory report of our import product," he said.
To encourage its sales force to get used to going to the Internet to get information, Juliano thought it would be fun to launch a Webbased national sales contest and give away money. For each retail sale of Lloyd/Flanders' product totaling more than $2,500, a salesperson can select one of 100 blocks on the Dash 4 Cash master board. Each block ranges in value from $5 to $1,000. The total board is worth $5,000.
The first Dash 4 Cash contest started April 15. Within seven days, the master board was completely filled. The second Dash 4 Cash started May 6, and the board was filled within only five days.
